Jack Paffett graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Falmouth University in 2016, where he was influenced by the work of Per Kirkeby, Cecily Brown, Richard Diebenkorn, Cy Twombly, Jackson Pollock, Howard Hodgkin and Rose Wylie. He has since established himself as a talent to watch, with work exhibited to great acclaim in London, Los Angeles and Venice. In 2017 Jack was selected for the FBA Futures exhibition at Mall Galleries, London, and in 2021 his artwork Basic Space won the Chubb Bulleid People’s Choice Prize at Wells Art Contemporary.
Sketches and studies of his environment, and of personal memories, are the starting point for Jack’s abstract paintings and prints, which he creates through a spontaneous interaction with the painting surface. Every mark is made in answer to the previous mark, as works are painted, over painted, erased and then built up again in an ongoing construction and deconstruction of works which celebrating the fluid nature of paint.
