35mm Slides / transparencies have fascinated me since childhood. I spent many rainy days sifting through my mother’s collection of lilliputian framed worlds often wondering where and who I was looking at.

In recent years I have become convinced that the continually changing, bubbles of light that surround us from moment to moment are in fact unique fingerprints that help us to define our pathway through life.

To create silent Boogie Woogie I have encapsulated theatrical lighting gels between two slivers of glass (to create a slide/transparency). These are then back-lit by a matrix of programmable LEDs. It is my belief that visceral connections are created by reducing a photograph to its chromatic and tonal values.
