Bruce Munro
59 x 59 x 9 1/2 inches
Regatta is a continuation of Bruce's interest in transposing language, memory and feelings into a visual format. This has developed in recent months to experimenting with distilling experience by writing haiku.
On a recent trip to his old home, the coastal town of Salcombe in Devon, he was reminded of the joy he felt watching the sailing boats race in the estuary during the Regatta week. For him, this week defined Summer.
The haiku is simply an expression of joy and revealed as a continuous bow wave that appears and disappears as three hulls race through the swells of the estuary.
In this installation the animated artwork is projected onto a three dimensional hull that has been realised as wall mounted modules.
